Top 5 Songs for Canning Season

August 9, 2013 By: Dana4 Comments

The time has come to start planning ahead and preserving the taste of summer. If you’re looking for advice on how to get started this canning/jarring season, I recommend checking out Food in Jars and Punk Domestics. If you’re looking for music to groove to while you boil, strain and stir your preserves than you, amazing home cook, are in the right place. Let’s jam, baby!

5. Apples Peaches & Cherries ~Smothers Brothers

4. Jelly Jungle (of Orange Marmalade) ~The Lemon Pipers

3. Sugar and Spice ~The Searchers

2. Peaches ~Presidents of the United States

1. Kick Out The Jams ~MC5.

Agree? Disagree? Don’t be shy – what jarring-inspired tunes have your pickles tickled groovy this season?

I wish I’d seen this yesterday – BEFORE I made black persimmon and also blueberry/blackberry jam. I feel like I missed a great opportunity to jam my jam! Love your list, but you left off perhaps the greatest jelly song of all time – Jammin’ by Bob Marley. #hopethatyoubejammintoo

Dana, I LOVE that you have so much fun with food and pop culture on your blog. It’s always like opening a treasure chest of goodies when I stop by. And come on, linking the Smothers Brothers to canning season? That’s the kind of brilliant quirkiness I haven’t found anywhere else. That’s why I’ve nominated Hot Pink Apron for the Shine On award. I’ve given you a shout out on my blog and hope lots and lots of people find their way to your awesomeness: http://www.theicecreaminitiative.com/shine-on-award/
